I agree -- it's going to take a really awesome app that could only be used on the device. Otherwise, I'm still married to my smartphone.

It seems that the wearables war will begin soon. 

I still personally do not see the value for something like a smartwatch. However, I know many people who have them, and that the notifications are useful. 

There is something to be said for that, however it may take a "killer" app for me to be totally convinced.

Google has built up good will with the Android dev community. Who would be Google's main rival to dominate wearables ecosystem? Apple? I am interested to hear from our Tom Claburn, an early Google Glass tester with a dev background, on the landscape at the moment for dev loyalty.
