I can see this evolving into marketing sponsoring individuals, almost like an extension of how celebrities are sponsored by brands.  These folks become influencers and often they can be sought because they show loyalty traits.  I think this is where we could really start to see how Big Data analytics will start meshing with marketing to identify these influencers to help drive adoption of products and services among other likeminded individuals.

Can We Make More Ponds?
I love the idea of troll ponds and think we need them on every site where people are allowed to make comments.

 

Seriously, it does not seem like marketers take the corrosive effect of trolls seriously enough. Of course, it's easier to give a positive social influencer virtual (or real) swag than to figure out how to keep negative influencers away.
