DevOps is not that new
For smaller, agile companies, the concept of DevOps is nothing new. Some of us out in the wild (mostly at smaller companies) are already responsible for software development as well as IT operations. However, if I am following it correctly, the new tech buzzword "DevOps" is only new for larger businesses and organizations. Does this mean I add a new title on my CV when I do it all?

Ironically, it just seems like good business sense to have development and operations (whether it is one department or two) work hand in hand to provide the optimum solution for the company/organization. Reading the press lately, it seems like this is some amazing revelation that has occured over the past few months...

Maybe we can use this new buzzword to angle in for more pay? One can only hope! It's ironic to me that you constantly hear about how IT operations and developers are overworked and underpaid - now they want us to do both jobs for the same pay (well, except for those of us that already do)?

DevOps
A lot of companies had already decided they needed to revamp their dev process to accomodate the speed necessary to create mobile apps. They were doing devops before people called it devops.
