Dell has announced several new virtualization initiatives, including new servers and new services to support purchase and deployment.The two new servers are the PowerEdge R805 and R905, which offer twice the memory and I/O capacity of Dell's previous generation two-socket servers. They are available with integrated hypervisors, either VMware's ESXi 3.5 or Citrix's XenServer Dell Express Edition, The R805, featuring 2 AMD Opteron quad-core or dual-core processors and a maximum of 292GB of storage, starts at $3,049; the R905, featuring four AMD Opteron quad-core or dual-core processors and up to 2TB of storage, starts at $6,499.

The company also announced expanded support services, including a Virtualization Simplification Workshop and Virtualization Operational Assessment and Process Automation to help customers choose the right solutions.The Register
