Re: Modular design
WKash,

The idea of customizing one's phone has been ringing a bell for some time now. In Europe, new mobile companies like Jolla in Finland, and Fairphone in the Netherlands have incorporated this concept to their first products, both launched this year.

Incorporating 3D printing sounds right, and as things go it's already a big thing.

As yes, a better recycling system, and also reuse of electronics components come in the same package. So why not to customize?

Modular design
How much consumers will be interested in customizing their phones will be interesting to see.  But one imagines the real potential of this maybe in helping to address the growing problem of how to reccule all the components of all the billions of phones that will eventualy get into circulation, by making the components eaiser to take apart, replace and recycle.
