5 Apple iPad 5 Wishes

Will Apple's 5th-generation iPad be a bore or have innovations galore? We'd like to see five rumors come true.

The 5th-generation iPad might have a trimmer look. Two weeks ago, French tech site Nowhereelse reported that one of its Chinese contacts had sent it photos of the new iPad's front panel (top photo). The image shows a slimmer slate with a narrower, iPad Mini-style side frame. The result, if the image is legit: A lighter, less bulky device that retains its predecessor's 9.7-inch display.

Earlier reports lend credence to Nowhereelse's furtive pics. In January, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable source of Apple scuttlebutt, said the next-gen iPad would be slimmer than the 4th-gen model and would have a lighter, full-aluminum shell, according to the IB Times. Kuo's supply chain contacts also said the new iPad would be about 15% thinner and 25% lighter than its predecessor.

What is the point of an Ultra Narrow Bezel Tablet? When I pick up my iPad, I often grasp it with my thumb on the bezel area. If there is no bezel area, that will result in touching the screen and sometimes inadvertent gestures. So just picking the thing up will become a challenge. No thanks.

True, but they're also generating fewer viewers. I stopped coming to this site regularly when they started with the slide show crap, and this just reinforces my attitude. I'm here for information.

-Stylus and active digitizer
-Keyboard with battery extender(even as a peripheral)
-Cortex-A57
-Camera is not very important, as long as it has something for communicational purposes, I hope, that the arms race don't push budgets into megapixel nonsense in tablet wars
-Same goes to screen resolution. Its already ridiculous.

re: 5 Apple iPad 5 Wishes
How about a useful case instead of a thinner one? The first thing everyone has to do is buy another case because the one from Apple is so fragile. It's also smooth which makes it slippery and vulnerable to being dropped.

For marketing purposes it should be ZOGI. Come up with a little ZOGI animal as a logo. IGZO is unnatural.

Do they factor in price with the sales figures? I think a lot of people buy the mini because it is cheaper. I think people would buy the full size iPad over the mini if the price were the same. I've heard people say "Look, this one is over a hundred dollars cheaper" but have never heard "I like this one because it's smaller and displays a smaller picture."

Software - how about a real file manager? Also, admit that there is a real world out there and make your browser compatible with it?
