Hopefully just the beginning...
This is probably the reason why I will buy an iphone... I don't intend to make money with it, which puts me on the "consumer" market, but I have been interested in infrared imaging, photography and videography for some time, and Flir's other devices where actually the more affordable ones around. It's good to see that there is a "consumer-priced" option for this at last, and I hope that there will be enough demand to justify creating more advanced models with more possibilities and higher resolutions, at affordable prices.

Re: detect intruders in total darkness
Your likely correct in that.   I don't see much use in the consumer markets for this device.

However, you have to admit, it is great that FLIR found a way to bring the overall cost down...

detect intruders in total darkness
Why don't we give this FLIR One to the military, the police and those three letters agencies, along with the iPhone 5, instead of spending thousand of dollars in similar gadgets?

Re: Security tool?
I think we'll see a lot more unusual sensors that can be connected to mobile phones appear this year.

Security tool?
Your point about the dog security system is right on the money, Tom. It is hard to beat the Labrador alarm system. And his batteries never run out. In all seriousness, many of you are reading this story: What intrigues you about this iPhone add-on?
