High Demand Slowing iPhone 4S Pre-Order Fulfillment

Orders for the new iPhone 4S are going full-steam ahead and are, in fact, so great that fulfillment of some pre-orders will be delayed.

Robust demand pre-orders for the iPhone 4S is already causing delays in delivery.

Over 1 million pre-orders were made for the iPhone 4S in the first 24 hours after Apple began accepting them according to an Apple statement.

The iPhone 4S will actually be available at Apple retail stores in the United States at 8AM local time this Friday, October 14. Expect lines.

But some users who pre-ordered online may not get their devices on the originally promised date. In a statement sent to their Premier customers, AT&T said:

IMPORTANT Pre-order Shipment Change for iPhone Orders – October 10, 2011

Due to the overwhelming demand for pre-orders of iPhone 4S, we are adjusting the expected date of shipment for orders placed in Premier. Effective Immediately, all orders placed for all models of iPhone 4S will be delivered in 21 to 28 days. All models of iPhone 4 8GB continue be shipped in 10 to 14 days. We will send further communication if shipping expectations change.
