It is a mediocre attempt at something new.... as you say
It will be interesting to see if new apple products get banned for import to the US.
HTC got bit by Apple so I am sure they will respond in kind to Apple.
- Bad place to be when you only release one new phone a year.

It does look like they have tried to make it so it doesnt break all the time like the others but given apples poor industrial design history I am doubtful, time will tell.
