Learn To Play On iPad Guitar Controller

Guitar-like device clamps iPad and you play on virtual strings. Lighted frets show you where to put the other hand.

Ion Audio's Guitar Apprentice is a hardware device that combines with an iPad it holds to teach the user guitar. It will be available for $99 in July.

The software on the iPad uses core midi and so can work with any software that supports the standard.

One neat trick shown in the demo video above is that it's easy to switch between left- and right-handed playing; the iPad just switches orientation of the virtual guitar it presents.
