Microsoft Surface Tablet: 10 Coolest Features

Microsoft's slick new Windows 8 Surface tablet looks great, though pricing remains a question. Get up close with 10 of its most compelling features.

The Surface's keyboard has a few more tricks up its sleeve. You can rest your hands on top of the keys, something you generally can't do with an onscreen keyboard. Microsoft invented a fast, pressure-sensitive digitizer that enables this feature; an algorithm helps determine whether you meant to press a key or not. Microsoft calls this feature "tap detection." One unanswered question: Will Touch Cover come with the basic Surface package or cost extra?

But wait, there's more: A second keyboard for fast touch-typists, or users who prefer the feel of tactile keys, will be available too. Called "Type Cover," it offers 1-millimeter key travel in an extremely thin package.

re: Microsoft Surface Tablet: 10 Coolest Features
I'm sorry but I have zero desire to own a piece of equipment by Microsoft. I will never give Microsoft another dime of our money. Our company has switched entirely to Macs and every employee uses an iPad for various job functions including sales, BI reporting, design and more. I've never been happier with how smoothly and efficiently the whole process works now that we've dumped Microsoft's bloatware and the less-than-desirable products in that product space.

Ah, nothing like a closed mind. A real forward thinking, intelligent stance. I know a few religious folk that are just like you.

Stereotyping is the culture. "Closed Mind!" I am a Microsoft fan as well, but this has nothing to do with closed mind. Microsoft has run the test of time and is slow in competing at the Tablet level. Fall 2012 is too long to wait. Sorry, it is good move to iPad. I now use one and it is very reliable and lots of free robust apps.
