Re: Is there really a market for smartwatches?
I'm less interested in the ways it can act as a second screen for my smartphone than in the fitness applications that will likely be built into future smartwatches.

If someone gets this idea right, I think wearable tech will actually make people live longer-- first and foremost, by encouraging people to exercise, but also, as sensors get more sophisticated, through big data-type applicatons that could help catch medical problems before they happen. Fitness is rumored to be a big part of Apple's fabled smartwatch-- and if they (or Microsoft, who also allegedly has a product in development) follow this path, I'll be much more interested.

But stuff like the Samsung or Sony models? Nope, couldn't be less tempted to buy.

Is there really a market for smartwatches?
I just don't understand the appeal of smartwatches. I can't imagine any situation in which I'd rather use one over my smartphone -- why are people hot for these?
