TouchFire Screen-Top Keyboard: A Visual Tour

The TouchFire Screen-Top Keyboard is a light, silicone keyboard that lays on top of the iPad's soft keyboard and provides a tactile experience. TouchFire was a Kickstarter sensation, raising 20 times the money its inventors requested. Click here for a full TouchFire review, including video.

Many iPad users wish they had a better keyboard than the built-in soft keyboard, but they don't want to turn their iPad into a netbook. Unlike Bluetooth keyboards such as the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard or ZAGGFolio, the Touchfire adds almost no weight to the iPad.

Although it's a bit tricky to set up, you can use Apple's Smart Cover for the iPad with the TouchFire overlay. The Smart Cover even folds up into its display stand with the TouchFire in place.

The TouchFire got its start on Kickstarter, the fundraising site for new inventions. In answer to the inventors' request for $10,000 in backing, it raked in over $200,000. Now backers will be receiving their product.

Above is the Touchfire inside its carrying case.
