Today Verizon Wireless said that it will offer an official firmware update for the BlackBerry Storm. Storm users can look for it on Sunday, May 31.I just received an email from Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney. She said, "The OS version 220.127.116.11 is a general maintenance release that improves the overall user experience. Customers will be able to get the update via the Web at www.blackberry.com/update beginning Sunday May 31 from 3pm Eastern Time."
I asked for a full list of changes and/or improvements, but I have yet to receive a response from Verizon. In my experience, 18.104.22.168 is the best firmware release for the Storm yet.
With 22.214.171.124, the Storm's UI is more stable. The device shouldn't randomly re-start as it did with previous firmware versions. The home screen is more responsive and less laggy. The lock/unlock key behaves as it should. The camera is more responsive, and so is the photo gallery.
Raney went on to say, "Verizon Wireless will also be rolling this update out to customers through an over-the-air download beginning Sunday night (10pm Eastern Time). To get the download over the air, go to Options> Advanced Options > Wireless Updates."
So there you go. An official update for BlackBerry Storm 9530 is just around the corner.

The UC Infrastructure TrapWorries about subpar networks tanking unified communications programs could be valid: Thirty-one percent of respondents have rolled capabilities out to less than 10% of users vs. 21% delivering UC to 76% or more. Is low uptake a result of strained infrastructures delivering poor performance?
