Axcient

Axcient's service is designed for the SMB market with the goal of delivering a cost-effective solution that will not only protect business data, but also provide some redundancy for servers as well. A key part of the Axcient solution is the implementation of a backup appliance at the organization's location. This appliance provides local data protection for quick backups, rapid restore, and server failover. Protection is broad, covering most major operating systems and applications like Exchange or SQL.

Using the appliance eliminates the server impact of waiting for that first backup job to finish. The appliance can do this in the background while your servers get back to business and not affect your workflow. The backup appliance replicates to an off-premises Axcient facility that provides disaster backup, disaster restore, a longer-term archive, site failover, and file sharing or synchronization.

Solution providers that cater to the SMB market can use the Axcient solution to deliver online backup to their clients. They can provide the appliance and then Axcient provides a single management interface that allows the solution providers to monitor their clients' backups from a single management GUI. This allows the SMB solution provider to offer online backup with the personal touch of a local company.

One of the unique capabilities of the Axcient appliance is its ability to provide server failover. Many smaller businesses can't justify the cost of a redundant server in case one of their important servers fails. The feature called Server Alive allows for a virtual image of that server to be run from the appliance until the original server can be repaired or replaced.
