HP Lands Rockwell

Hewlett-Packard secured a $175 million contract to provide technology services to Rockwell Collins, the latest indication that HP's once-stagnant outsourcing business is slowly picking up. Under the seven-year deal, HP will provide a range of infrastructure management services to the aviation manufacturer at 60 locations worldwide.

HP's services revenue grew just 1% in 2005, to $15.6 billion, under pressure from EDS, IBM, and competitors in India. However, it's experiencing modest growth of late in outsourcing, with a compound growth rate of 4.7% in managed services revenue over the past four quarters.
