In Short: Study Pegs Cost Of Software Piracy

Pirated software accounts for 36% of software in use worldwide, according to a new study. The Business Software Alliance, an anti-piracy group whose members include Apple Computer, IBM, Intel, and Microsoft, reported that losses from software piracy last year were nearly $29 billion. According to the findings, only $51 billion of the $80 billion in software purchased in 2003 was legally acquired.
