The global social network and blog service plans to begin sharing revenue from online ads -- supplied by Google's AdSense program -- with users who agree to run ads on their Dada.net pages.
"We are very pleased that such an innovative program was created here in Italy," said Massimiliano Magrini, country manager of Google Italy, in a statement. "Social advertising offers advantages to all involved and the friend$ program allows the international Dada.net community, of more than 7 million, access to the AdSense platform in a brand new way."
Dada.net is also available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The company has not decided when friend$ will be available in these countries.
The Google ads will appear not only on consenting users' Dada.net blogs, but on their profile, photo, video, discussion, and other pages.
Entry into friend$ is by invitation only. Dada is seeding the program with its 20 to 30 top bloggers, who will send out invitations to other active users, according to a company spokesperson. Users will also be able to request invitations.
