PureVideo Networks is launching the site for what it predicts will be the "unprecedented" influence of the Web on the 2008 presidential race and politics. The new media and technology company behind the video search site said its search engine and content aggregator will be a center for government-related information and resources.
The site contains tabs for: News, Blogs, Politicians, Videos, Issues, Bills, Humor, Elections, and Resources. The company promises profiles on every member of the Senate and Congress, all U.S. governors, and presidential hopefuls. The profiles will include information on political parties, positions, voting histories, news articles, videos, photos, blogs, podcasts, and audio clips.
The site also includes poll results, voter information, and video parodies, fake news, and political cartoons.
"Trend analysis from PureVideo provides us with powerful business intelligence that we use to build new Web sites consumers care about," Erik Hawkins, CEO and co-founder of PureVideo, said in a prepared statement. "It's a system that has proven successful with HollywoodUpClose.com, and one I believe will deliver similar results on PoliticsUpClose.com and other sites to come."
The company said it would launch more verticals leveraging the same technical infrastructure as PoliticsUpClose later this year.
PureVideo said its sites attract more than 13 million monthly visitors and it expects a groundswell of support for PoliticsUpClose as well.
