Nokia on Wednesday added a new mobile phone to its Prism Collection, the 7900 Crystal Prism, which features a diamond-cut design and a keypad that houses a crystal in the center.
"We continue to seek opportunities to collaborate with designers and artists at the top of their fields, who can offer different talents and insights to help us create products that meet the individual and unique lifestyle needs of consumers," said Jo Harlow, senior VP of marketing at Nokia's Mobile Phones unit, in a statement.
The phone's features include an Organic Light Emitting Diode display, a 2-megapixel camera, built-in 3G technology for high-speed data access over cellular networks, a music player, and 1GB of internal memory. Users can personalize the color of the light in the phone's keypad with 49 different colors, according to Nokia.
The 7900 Crystal Prism will become available in the first quarter of this year and will cost EUR375 (about $546).
In November, Nokia introduced even pricier premium phones. The 8800 Arte and the 8800 Sapphire Arte have casings made out of quality metal and glass materials, and the Sapphire Arte contains a gem stone and an accent of leather for a sophisticated look and feel.
The Arte costs EUR1000 (about $1,460), while the Sapphire Arte is even more expensive at EUR1150 (about $1,680).
Nokia isn't the only one targeting the high-end consumer market. Motorola and LG Electronics, among others, are also in the business of selling phones with an extra touch of style and elegance.
