ICSA Labs To Certify PC Firewalls

TruSecure Corp.'s ICSA Labs division has added PC Firewalls to its list of security applications that it certifies. Through the personal firewall certification program, personal firewall vendors will have their software tested, assessed, and validated by ICSA's independent labs.

Ian Hameroff, business manager of Computer Associate's eTrust Security Group, says they submitted their eTrust personal firewall "because of the confidence it provides our customers. Our customers seek out this third-party validation of our technology."

Currently, according to TruSecure, ICSA Labs certifies more than 95% of anti-virus software, network firewalls, cryptography, and IPSec-based products.

ICSA Labs planned to discuss the program's certification criteria and testing protocols Thursday at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas.
