Mozilla 1.7 RC2 (Release Candidate 2) of the open-source Internet suite -- which includes the Mozilla browser, an e-mail client, and a chat client -- is the final pre-release edition planned before 1.7 goes final this summer.
Among the changes made since RC1 debuted in April are the ability to fine-tune the browser's pop-up ad blocker, support for Secure Password Authentication within the e-mail client, and reworked cookie dialogs.
Mozilla 1.7 RC2 can be downloaded from the Foundation's Web site in versions for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
Also on Monday, Mozilla updated its Mac OS X-only Camino browser from beta .07 to .08, adding a Google toolbar, a new bookmark management tool, and the ability to use whitelists to block pop-ups. Camino's rendering engine has also been upgraded, and is now based on the same HTML engine found within Mozilla 1.7.
Camino requires Mac OS X 10.1.5 and later, and like Mozilla 1.7 RC2, is a free download from the Foundation's site.
