Identity and Access Management software provider Entrust today announced its intent to acquire the Email content scanning and analysis technology of privately-held AmikaNow! Corp.

AmikaNow!'s Email content scanning and antispam tools are designed to help enterprise and government customers comply with corporate Email policies and regulatory guidelines such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB).

Entrust intends to use AmikaNow! technology to expand its Secure Messaging and Secure Data offerings. The technology analyzes and categorizes Email message and document content based on the contextual meaning, not simply pre-defined word lists. Policies can be customized to suit the corporate environment and be automatically enforced at the boundary to reduce business risk and comply with privacy and securities regulations.

Entrust will brand and integrate AmikaNow!'s technology and is targeting initial product deliverables by the end of the fourth quarter. The company also intends to offer Entrust-branded advanced content analysis capabilities as standalone products.

Financial terms of the planned acquisition were not disclosed.
