Permabit and AXS-One Inc. Wednesday unveiled a partnership to help customers index, archive, search, retrieve and dispose of enterprise data. The vendors said their joint solutions will provide a cost-effective way to securely store and manage electronic records such as e-mail and instant messages in accordance with new regulations. AXS-One will bring its Compliance Platform to the mix, which manages compliance records in accordance with SEC17a-4, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and other regulations. Permabit's Permeon Compliance Vault offers enterprises content addressed storage for storage and access to e-mail, instant messages, statements, documents and digitized images.

Both products work with industry-standard magnetic disk storage platforms, and the vendors' joint solutions will help customers reduce the risks of non-compliance, they said.

The joint solutions will also help enterprises save money, according to one analyst. "Integrated solutions like this one will ultimately help customers greatly reduce the cost of meeting the many regulations that impact their environment," said Pete Gerr, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, in a statement.
