Palm Access To Sales-Automation Software

UpShot.com today is updating the term "mobile sales force" by, well, making sales forces more mobile. The privately held company says its sales-force-automation software can be synchronized with the Palm operating system and Microsoft Outlook. Salespeople can download sales data from the UpShot.com Web site.

"The cool part about these services is the anytime, anywhere access," says Yankee Group analyst Sheryl Kingstone. "Today, [salespeople] cannot take the Web with them, so offline synchronization is essential." UpShot is charging $7.95 a month per customer to synchronize its software with the Palm OS and Outlook.

After determining that customers required a faster way to retrieve data, UpShot.com teamed up with Puma Technology to deliver. This software gives sales staffs "the easy access, instant access" they need to be competitive, says Julie Choi, UpShot's VP of product management and online services.

Though refusing to disclose specifics, Choi says synchronization with other devices will be announced soon.
