The server offering, TIB/Portal for Yahoo, lets companies
create customized portals that provide employees with access
to enterprise applications and public content from Yahoo's
Corporate My Yahoo portal. TIB/Portal for Yahoo retrieves
both the internal and external information and combines it
into a Web browser format. Yahoo became a minority investor
in Tibco last month when it bought $4 million in common
stock; it's also a licensee of Tibco software.
Tibco will also release the second version of TIB/
ActiveEnterprise, a suite of software for integrating
enterprise applications so they can share data. The update
includes features similar to those found in rival
application-integration software from Active Software, IBM,
and Vitria Technology. One new component,
TIB/IntegrationManager, lets IT departments integrate
business processes using a graphical mapping procedure, and
eliminates the need for extensive software coding required
with the initial release of the suite. Another component is
TIB/ Adapter SDK, a kit that lets developers build adapters
for each application they want to integrate. All of the products will be available this month except
TIB/IntegrationManager, which will ship by year's end.
Prices vary based on the components used.
