In Pursuit Of Small Businesses

Online customer-relationship management software provider Salesforce.com Inc. hopes its latest service, Team Edition, will lure an estimated 2 million users at small companies away from Best Software Inc.'s Act and FrontRange Solutions Inc.'s GoldMine, which have dominated the low end of the CRM market. "It's very competitive in that market," CEO and chairman Marc Benioff says. Team Edition, priced at $995 a year for up to five people, lets salespeople, customer-service reps, and marketing pros collaborate over the Web.
