Borland Software Corp. plans to ship a new release of TogetherSoft's application-modeling tools next month, the first since it bought the company in December.

Borland, the leading supplier of Java development tools, said Wednesday that it plans to ship Together Edition for Jbuilder, which helps software-development teams build visual models of applications and reuse code, early next month.

The release is an upgrade to TogetherSoft's old Together ControlCenter product. Borland bought TogetherSoft, which makes Unified Modeling Language tools, for $185 million in December.

Borland also plans to bundle the new version of Together with its popular JBuilder Java development tool, an application server, and other software, into Enterprise Studio 5, also due in March, for a list price of about $7,000. Also this week, Borland released a version of its Optimizeit software that works with Microsoft .Net code. The Optimizeit Profiler analyzes code written in Microsoft's new object-oriented development languages for performance problems.
