Skype Launches Mac Video Calling Software

Skype for Mac makes possible one-on-one video calls that can be viewed within the Skype window or on a user's full computer screen.

"Can you see me now" is what Mac and Windows users could be asking each other as a result of Skype's new release that enables cross-platform, free video calls between Apple and Microsoft users.

Skype for Mac makes possible one-on-one video calls that can be viewed within the Skype window or a user's full computer screen, Skype said Wednesday.

"Our community is made up of both Mac and Windows users," said Stefan Oberg, Skype's director of product management, in a statement. "We couldn't be more excited to bring these two groups together, literally face-to-face."

The video services requires Apple users to have a Macintosh computer with Mac OS X v10.3.9 Panther or newer, a G4, G5 or Intel processor with a speed of 800 MHz, or higher, 512 MB RAM, 40 MB free disk space.
