Fast Search & Transfer ASA upgraded its line of enterprise search software on Monday with three versions for departments and businesses, boasting new management tools and the ability to dynamically drill down on search results.

Fast Data Search Professional, Fast Data Search Enterprise, and Fast Data Search SST software all include a new Live Analytics feature that lets users drill down into the search results and find specific information based on the data found. A customer searching for a product on the company's site, for instance, can refine the results after an initial search by selecting specific product characteristics, such as color or price.

The Professional version is aimed at departments, while the Enterprise edition takes aim at larger, industrywide deployments. Financial and media companies, which need real-time search capabilities, are better served with the SST version.

Other new features in the Data Search line include a business manager Control Panel that lets executives fine-tune searches so targeted products are placed higher in the search results.

The Data Search line also now supports HP-UX and Red Hat Linux Advanced Server, in addition to earlier operating systems that included IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Windows 2000 and XP.
