Symantec Introduces Virus Protection For File, Cache Servers

New products offer protection for file serving and Internet caching appliances from Network Appliance.

Symantec Corp. on Monday introduced antivirus software for file serving and Internet caching appliances from Network Appliance Inc.

Symantec AntiVirus for NetApp Filers lets one scanner protect multiple file servers. Infected files can be segregated onto a separate area to be dealt with by network administrators.

Symantec AntiVirus for Network Appliance NetCache provides scanning for HTTP and File Transfer Protocol traffic and is designed to protect companies against viruses such as Code Red and Nimda, which enter company networks as attachments to Web pages and as part of downloadable files. It also protects against threats borne by Web-based E-mail.

Both products are available now.
