Federal agents have tracked E-mails concerning Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington to known associates of America's most-wanted man, Osama bin Laden, according to a report by digdirt.com, an E-commerce Web site that provides access to intelligence searches in over 100 countries.

The FBI reportedly served search warrants on EarthLink Inc. and America Online Tuesday, requesting electronic correspondences sent before and after the bombings by about 10 subscribers linked to bin Laden's terrorist network. America Online confirmed it had turned over electronic communications to the FBI for review. An EarthLink spokesman said the company was cooperating fully with the FBI, but declined to comment further.

The E-mail messages were not encrypted, and according to digdirt.com, the content of those E-mails indicated the authors believed their messages were completely untraceable and protected from outside eyes. Earlier this week, it was reported that the government intercepted cell-phone communications between bin Laden supporters.
