Intrusion-Detection Software Offers Real-Time Defense
RealSecure 2.0 features a new architecture to more quickly detect intrusions and an expanded database of known security vulnerabilities.
"We've extended the number of types of attacks RealSecure can look for and we've extended the number of speeds and types of networks RealSecure can monitor," says Patrick Taylor, director of product marketing for ISS, in Atlanta. The software now suppo
rts Fast Ethernet and Token Ring networks.
RealSecure goes beyond detecting network intrusions: It also logs and records all attacks, can send E/mails or pages to IT administrators and can kill attacks by "sending a reset packet to the two end points so both computers drop the connection," Taylor says.
The software is also integrated with Check Point Software's firewall so that when RealSecure detects an attack, such as Internet Protocol spoofing, it can automatically reconfigure Check Point's Firewall-1 so it terminates the connection from the suspicious IP address.
RealSecure 2.0 will be available next month, starting at a price of $4,995.
