NRF Big Show 2011: Breakthrough Technologies For Retailing

The National Retail Federation's "Big Show" in New York highlighted scores of cutting-edge retail technologies, from mobile devices and digital signage to point-of-sale systems and store-management applications. Motion Computing's CL900 is a retail-specialized tablet complete with a card reader, barcode scanner, fingerprint security and forward and rear-facing cameras. The ruggedized device can withstand a four-foot drop to a concrete floor and the Gorilla Glass screen can take knocks without cracking. The Windows 7 device handles touch gestures and stylus input and the batteries deliver a full workday of power. Prices start at less than $1,000.
