Microsoft faces the same embrace-or-be-destroyed alternatives from the burgeoning open-source software movement that it faced with the Internet years ago, argues David Stutz, who recently retired as Microsoft's group program manager for the Shared Source Common Language, in a copy of his retirement letter he posted on the Web last week.
