OpenOffice Updates Free Suite

The newest release of OpenOffice.org's business application suite includes bug fixes, improvements in the PDF files export function, and a tool to download spelling and thesaurus dictionaries.

OpenOffice.org Tuesday released the newest version of the open-source group's business application suite, OpenOffice 1.1.1.

Although primarily a bug-fix release -- OpenOffice 1.1.1 correct hundreds of glitches and errors in the earlier version -- the update also includes new features and enhancements.

Among the former is the DicOOo AutoPilot, a tool which downloads and installs any of the 87 spelling, hyphenation, and thesaurus dictionaries currently available for the suite.

Version 1.1.1 also sports improvements to its Adobe Acrobat PDF file format export function, handles fonts better, works with languages that use a comma rather than a decimal point within numbers, and has enhanced the suite's export and import filters.
