TOM MURPHY, Managing Editor for Communities, UBM Tech

Tom has helped define interactive media for over two decades as an entrepreneur, writer, editor, and manager. He's been writing extensively about technology and business since 1980, including semiconductors, SaaS, the Internet, personal computing, mobile, digital marketing, analytics, social media, and other technologies. He has appeared on CNBC, WNBC, many radio programs, webcasts, webinars, and videos.

Tom is the author of Web Rules: How the Internet is Changing the Way Consumers Make Choices. He led coverage of technology and business globally as editor-in-chief for RedHerring.com and Montgomery Research; was the founding managing editor of MarketWatch.com; served as the first Bloomberg News correspondent in Northern California;  and supervised the Northern California news desk for The Associated Press.

A strong believer in community service, he's the founder of the award-winning nonprofit news community Newswire21.org and the over-40 community RedwoodAge.com.
