SAN JOSE, Calif. — Driven by semiconductors and other products, Singapore’s manufacturing output jumped by 22.4 percent in November of 2005, compared to the like period a year ago, according to the Economic Development Board (EDB).

The three-month moving average growth was 20.6 percent for total manufacturing in Singapore for November, according to the EDB. The seasonally adjusted month-on-month manufacturing output growth was up 1.5 percent.

Cumulative total manufacturing output for the first 11 months of 2005 increased by 9.9 percent, compared to the same period in 2004.

The electronics cluster grew by 19.9 percent year-on-year in November, due to semiconductors, computer peripherals and data storage, according to the EDB. Cumulative growth for the electronics cluster was 7.5 percent in the first 11 months of this year, compared to the same period last year.

Semiconductor production increased by 42.0 percent in November, computer peripherals grew 24.4 percent, and storage jumped 10.4 percent, according to the EDB.

In contrast to these segments, the “infocomms” and consumer electronics segment contracted by 4.2 percent despite higher production of personal computers and consumer electronics. The contraction came from lower output of mobile products.
