Social Networking for Old Guys
In Irwin's Social Networking Overload post he mentions that social networking isn't just for the under-30 crowd these days. In fact, social networking for us older people seems to be growing at a very healthy clip. Today's New York Times also has a story on social networking that references this growth:
"According to company executives, Facebook, which has over 80 million subscribers worldwide, doubled the number of subscribers under 35 last year, but it tripled the number of subscribers between 35 and 54. Early adopters of Facebook, which was the province of students until 2006, must wonder who let all the old guys in."As one of the over-35 "old guys" I can anecdotally say it's true. While the vast majority of my Facebook "friends" are industry people you'd expect to be on Facebook, I'm surprised to see some of my non-industry, 35+ friends showing up now too. So to all you under-30s, sorry to crash your party. Now, where do you keep the Bartles and Jaymes?
