Thank you Dawn for letting the community know of the passing of Mr. Tomlinson. I was not aware of his key contribution to email as we know it today. But what sticks with me is his humbleness and kindness, which one can easily recognize from his writing included in this piece.
In a day, where everyone thinks they are a genius and wants the world to know about it. It is refreshing to see how it once was done, by someone who thought what they were doing would just be "neat" to try and as a result became a cornerstone of the communication of today.
I will think of Mr. Tomlinson now when I think about the particulars of email transmission, and I will most importantly take away the importance of being humble, kind and generous.
I think if you asked him, he would probably say those qualities are more important than anything having to do with email.
So Thank you Mr. Tomlinson for your work and for your example of being a good person which in my book is far more important than the transmission of email.
