Re: I'm going to be interested in seeing this part
I don't know anyone who thinks that the transition would be smooth or immediate.  I don't know that all of the brand I mentioned would play nicely no matter what company they were part of so it's not a problem unique to Microsoft.  The answer might not be total unity between all of the product divisions but unity between all of the groups who could benefit each other directly.

Re: I'm going to be interested in seeing this part
Friends who have worked for Microsoft say there are some extremely significant cultural issues that have to be bulldozed before there is any hope of "unity."  And of course we all know culture isn't changed with a swipe of the pen.  After that then you have all the product-line integration pieces.

2. Will Nadella unite Microsoft?

Microsoft is in a very difficult position with regard to how close they keep the various product lines.  You can't argue with the success of products like the Office suite or Xbox but there is a real love hate relationship with Windows and Windows mobile.  Bringing the image of say Xbox to Windows is not going to be easy but then again is it really necessary?  How united do the various divisions need to be for Microsoft to be successful?  I would argue that some divisions could really benefit the others but I don't see Office for Xbox coming around anytime soon.
