On June 28, JasperSoft announced the general availability of JasperIntelligence 1.0. The release includes a new relational online analytical processing (OLAP) engine called JasperAnalysis that is compliant with the MDX and XML for Analysis languages and enhances functionality for the open source applications JasperReports, iReport and JasperServer. The success of open source reporting is driving many vendors to add business intelligence (BI) functionality to support the requirements of broader deployments. Ventana Research recommends that organizations currently using JasperSoft's products or those considering open source BI should evaluate the need for OLAP capabilities in their projects.
