hmm Mistake?

I wonder if it was a mistake that it was available for those few hours. Would it be unheard of if MS did that deliberately? It might get a little buzz going about it. Anything they do that helps non tablet users will be a plus. However I am using 8.1 on my laptop and I have it working like windows 7 already.
