Red Hat has shown consistency in face of challenge
Red Hat shows 19% revenue growth. Oracle's Larry Ellison steps down. Just coincidence? Yes, it is. But at one time, Ellison played Oracle's size and credibility against Red Hat when he launched not only Oracle Linux but Red Hat replacement technical support for Linux -- at half Red Hat's price. Red Hat stock took a big hit. That was one of the few bargains that he ever came up with for customers. A few even took him up on it. Oracle Linux is often the favored system to run the Oracle database. But Red Hat never lost the general purpose market.
