Wireless To The Rescue
The Saturday after the attack on the Pentagon, commanders of the rescue effort realized they faced a logistical nightmare without access to the Web, E-mail, and their records-management system.
Jack Belcher, CIO of Arlington County, Va., and a leader of the rescue effort, contacted local network service provider Signal. Its technicians used antennas donated by AT&T and demo antennas from Avaya to get a fixed wireless connection to Arlington's main network up and running at the site by Tuesday morning.
