Microsoft is so Legacy
Well this appears to be another example of MS's downward spiral into irrelevancy. A year ago the Tech companies were crying about the shortages in the labor pool and demanding that Congress increase Visas. Certainly the acquisition of Nokia created redundancies that can be eliminated but much of what MS is doing is very similiar to what corporations started doing back in the 90's to streamline and become more agile and nimble. As usual, MS is way behind the game. I believe that Nadella is betting too much on the cloud and is in for a big surprise in the long run. I get around quite a bit and here are some of the things I've observed- iPhones have an abundant and loyal following, next, Android is everywhere. Really I encounter surprisingly few tablets although they will clearly find their niche eventually. Hybrids too will be relegated to a niche usage. I encounter far more eReaders than tablets or hybrids. It seems that MS is ignoring enterprise (larger businesses-corporations) who are not embracing Win 8, Office 365, the cloud, the touch screen nor the concept of being connected 24/7. That fool from Nokia calling for the post PC era, hasn't a clue, he should fit right in with MS. Desktops and Workstations will remain, higher end laptops will be indespensible, the keyboard will also remain as will the touchpad/mouse. MS can either embrace enterprise and the higher end users by providing what is desired/needed, not what MS thinks is needed, or lose a big piece of the market that it traditionally held. There is plenty of competition ready to fill the void MS will leave.
