The area is overwhelming and I can see where the challenges are an issue here. There are specific skills and to be a good manager in analytics it doesn't necessarily require all numbers, rather not as extreme and being able to be comfortable with change. The interpersonal skills are crucial to management.

As the other commenter said, this can be a pretty broad topic. We could just say that salary stagnation is a result of general stagnation in the industry (or, heck, the economy), but a lot of signs indicate that other areas are finally starting to pick up. Like the intro say, BI and Analytics are certainly in demand - so you would think they'd be accelerating faster than other areas, not slower. I have a theory, but it's really not that exciting of one. In fact, that's the theory - that there just isn't enough excitement yet when it comes to this stuff.

The truth may be that the  job titles that fall under BI and Analytics just don't have enough hype around them right now. The area is still not fully explored, there aren't enough students going for degrees (as, say, data scientists), etc. You need that hype and that upswell to see the numbers shift, I think.  As you guys have been sharing in your articles recently, some types of software developers are at the point where recruiters are cold calling them. I think that will come soon enough for BI types - it's just a matter of time.
