Re: Our office can't afford to upgrade 26 XP machines so we found a better solution for the interim
Ah, it is my friend Security-Gladiator. You need to alter your writing style, if not your msg, if you want to go under radar.
So what is your inhouse software written in? VB, C#? COM or .NET? So you must have used Visual Studio, what's your IDE of choice for Linux? What language you going to use? Ruby? Java? Assuming your database must be SQL Server, are you really running that on an XP machine, not Win Server?
Sounds like you like you have a lot of work in front of you to "leave Microsoft forever". Just how much more functional will your business be once you rewrite for Linux? How much money are you going to save during the conversion effort versus just buying some Win 7 machines? How much annually after that being on Linux instead of MS?
I'm sure the readers would be fascinated to hear your plans since you are a legit end user who has thought all this thru.
