Sun Buys Into ID Management

Sun Microsystems expects to close a deal to purchase Waveset Technologies Inc. for an unspecified amount of cash by year's end. Waveset's software provides user-access provisioning, password management, end-user identity-profile management, identity and access-audit and reporting capabilities, centralized directory and user management, and simplified directory data migration. The Waveset acquisition will help Sun compete with vendors with more complete identity-management product suites.
