Mobile Office: Documents To Go And QuickOffice Mobile Office Suite
Going on the road doesn't mean you can leave the office behind -- and that means you can't leave Office behind. Both
Documents to Go ($9.99; $14.99 for the Premium version) and
QuickOffice Mobile Office Suite ($9.99) let you view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files on your iPhone, as well as view PowerPoint and PDF files. They both incorporate many common editing functions and spreadsheet formulas, and they work in landscape as well as portrait mode to make editing spreadsheets easier.
With both apps, you transfer files to and from your computer via a Wi-Fi connection. Documents to Go also gives you the option of downloading a desktop application that provides two-way synchronization between edited files, so that edits you make on your phone will be automatically merged with the document on your desktop. Documents to Go also incorporates DataViz' InTact Technology, which is intended to store any formatting information that Documents to Go can't display, such as headers and some layout elements, and then restore that formatting when the document is transferred back to the dekstop. And for an extra $5, Documents to Go Premium adds the ability to access attachments from an Exchange server directly and lets you edit, not just view, PowerPoint documents.
